How I Turn Paint Drips into Wearable Art – Sustainable Handmade Jewellery from the Cotswolds

In my little studio nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, creativity rarely stops at the canvas. As a fluid artist and maker of handmade goods, I’ve always believed that every part of the process deserves to be celebrated—not just the finished painting, but the colourful chaos it leaves behind.

That’s how my wearable art jewellery came to life: born from what others might throw away, transformed into tiny treasures you can wear.

🎨 What Are Paint “Skins” and Why Do I Save Them?

When I create my acrylic pour paintings, layers of vibrant paint spill over the edges of the canvas and onto protective trays underneath. As the paint dries, it forms flexible, glossy “skins”—beautiful, accidental artworks all on their own.

Instead of discarding them, I carefully peel, sort, and cut these dried paint pieces into shapes that highlight their unique textures and colour blends. They’re then sealed under glass cabochons and set into pendants, earrings, or keyrings — each one a miniature piece of art.

♻️ Sustainability Meets Creativity

As an independent artist, sustainability is a big part of my ethos. I use 100% recycled cotton for my crochet bags and repurpose leftover materials whenever possible. Turning paint drips into jewellery helps me:

- Reduce waste in my studio
- Create zero-waste collections
- Give new life to otherwise discarded beauty
- It’s a creative challenge I love—how to reimagine remnants as something wearable, meaningful, and totally one-of-a-kind.

💍 Why Wearable Art?

Each piece of jewellery holds the essence of a larger painting—a colour scheme, a swirl, a story. No two pendants or earrings are ever the same.

When you wear one, you’re not just wearing a pretty accessory. You’re carrying a part of the creative process itself. It’s for people who want to wear art, spark conversations, or give a truly unique handmade gift.
